Funding appeal by the BaityKool project

BaityKool, the innovative and eco-friendly prototype home, is the only French representative at Solar Decathlon Middle East 2018. Backed by the University of Bordeaux, the BaityKool project was able to use the equipment in the digital modelling room of the Arkinova Business Generator to build its template. The teams involved are now launching a crowdfunding exercise.

The University of Bordeaux has joined forces with five partners from France, Palestine and Dubai in order to compete at Solar Decathlon Middle East, which takes place in October 2018 in Dubai. The French partners include the NOBATEK/INEF4 centre for technology resources and the Arkinova Business Generator.

Solar Decathlon Middle East is a prestigious competition whereby 21 international teams undergo a series of 10 architectural and engineering tests. The ultimate goal is to design a high-performance and highly innovative life-size home powered by solar energy and suitable for a very hot climate.

Last autumn, part of the BaityKool project team spent some time at the Arkinova Business Generator building the template for the prototype, using the 3D printers in the digital modelling room. A crowdfunding exercise has now been launched on the Ulule platform (https://fr.ulule.com/baitykool-0/) to enable the student team to travel to Dubai later this year.
