Arkinova makes a date with French topography
More than 300 participants and some twenty exhibitors came to the 14th Topography Forum, held on Thursday 29 March at the Arkinova Business Generator.
The annual topographers’ forum of the French Topography Society (AFT) took place for the first time outside of the Paris region, thanks notably to Christophe Bagieu, professor of topography at the Lycée Cantau high school in Anglet and co-organiser of this national forum. The premises of the Business Generator hosted some twenty exhibitors: major companies and equipment providers (UAVs, laser measuring devices, etc.) used by topographers. Demonstrations and tests took place both outside and inside the building, which was measured and scanned several times.
The three conferences on the themes ‘The advantage of mobile mapping for large-scale topographical data’, ‘Mobile mapping and precise geo-referencing of underground networks’ and ‘Preparation for the International Indoor Positioning Competition (pedestrian navigation mapping)’attracted a large part of the 300 participants to the Arkinova Generator technical hall, which was transformed into an auditorium for the occasion.
This event also provided the opportunity to inaugurate the professional degree entitled ‘GEO 3D: Design and operation of digital models for public building works’, which was launched in September 2017 by Lycée Cantau, located in the Arkinova Technology Park. This professional degree, which is as yet unique in France, will welcome its first class of 14 students.
