Coming soon – a new centre for the French building-trades federation

The site of a new complex offering accommodation, catering, training and a museum was officially launched in June by the Anglet branch of the Fédération Compagnonnique des Métiers du Bâtiment (FCMB) – the French building-trades federation.

Historically based at a 5000 m² site in Anglet, the FCMB branch is moving to the Arkinova Technology Park, where the new complex is to be built. Comprising a training centre, a restaurant and a 60-bed accommodation facility, the site will also house a cultural centre.

With institutional-level support from the national government, Caisse de Dépôts, Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, Pyrénées-Atlantiques departmental council, Basque Country Urban Community and the city of Anglet, the new centre is slated to open in January 2020.

Based at the Arkinova site, the Fédération Compagnonnique des Métiers du Bâtiment hosts around 500 trainees: apprentices, job-seekers, company employees, school students on pre-apprenticeship programmes and young people working towards FCMB membership. The trades taught are tiling, carpentry, roofing, stonemasonry, joinery, painting, glazing and plastering, and around 15 qualifications are obtainable.
