Two university chairs established at the Montaury Pavilion in Anglet
Teams from the ‘High-Performance Computing – Wave’ and ‘CO2 Enhanced Storage’ programmes have moved into a 200m2 building provided by the Basque Country Authority right in the middle of the Arkinova site in Anglet.
In January, the Laboratory of Applied Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Sciences (SIAME) welcomed Dr Volker Röber, who will hold the HPC – Wave chair within the framework of the Isite project at the University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour (UPPA) for the next five years. The purpose of the chair, which is co-financed by the Basque Country Authority and Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, is to develop high-precision wave digital modelling tools.
The main applications of the project are to do with controlling coastal risks and developing renewable marine energy systems. The team has six members, including Dr Volker Röber, three doctoral and two post-doctoral students, who will work on the project at varying times. The facilities available to the team at the Montaury Pavilion include a 200m2 building provided by the Basque Country Authority, located on Montaury campus at Anglet.
Also now established at the Montaury Pavilion is the CO2 Enhanced Storage chair, held by Fabrizio Croccolo. It will comprise a small team of two doctoral and one post-doctoral students. The purpose of this industrial chair is to improve understanding of the different sequestration and transport processes involved in geological storage of CO2, in order to design large-scale storage projects that are safer and more efficient.
