Basque Country Technopole at CES 2020
Sodium Cycles and Coleen – two companies from the Basque Country Technology park – took part in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas from January 7th - 10th. Although Coleen had already taken part in the event, it was a first for Sodium Cycles who returned with new projects and contacts.
CES is the global tradeshow for consumer electronics and high-tech with 4000 exhibitors and 175,000 professional visitors. CES 2020 hosted 300 French companies including 28 from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. The French companies included Coleen – now located in Biarritz – a company that has designed two high-end electrically-assisted bike models at the Technocité technology park in Bayonne, and Sodium Cycles – housed in Anglet’s Arkinova Business Generator since last September – that has developed an electric two-wheeler christened Xubaka, the model on show in Las Vegas.
For Benoît Marty, head of Sodium Cycles, the tradeshow was a first and the results are promising: “We’re really happy with the positive feedback on the product and the highly-qualified contacts made with distributor networks, as well as both BtoC and BtoB buyers. We’re going to review our forecasts and raise our sales objectives for 2020 and we’re going to launch an R&D operation for a second 125cc model”. The electrical two-wheeled vehicle, equivalent to a 50cc, named Xubaka presented by Benoît Marty was especially popular due to its original style and how it can be customized by future users.
