First new academic year for the vocational degree in “Advanced programming”
Launched last spring by the IT Department of the University Institute of Technology of the University of Pau and the Pays de l’Adour (UPPA), the “Advanced Programming” degree will welcome its first academic year group in October.
It is a new course which will enhance UPPA’s offer, on its site at the Arkinova Technology Park. The “Advanced Programming” vocational degree will be delivered there from October 2017 to May 2018 in alternation with work placements in businesses.
Created to “meet the needs of the local economic fabric of start-ups and SMEs which are looking for programming skills to develop innovative projects” according to Philippe Roose, the head of the IT department at UPPA’s University Institute of Technology, this new degree will be divided into nine learning modules.
The content of these learning modules will therefore offer the expertise sought by local businesses working in rapidly growing sectors, notably, connected objects, web programming and big data.
“We are going to welcome twelve students on vocational contracts, and this was the aim for this first year even though we could have accommodated four more. Eight students have contracts with local businesses and four students with businesses in Pau and Bordeaux. Company employees will also be joining us for specific modules” stated Philippe Roose. The first term is due to begin on 8 October 2017.
