Propylene made from natural additives created by IPREM
This patented innovation designed by IPREM based in Pau and Anglet should be trialled this year in the form of food packaging trays that can be reused up to 100 times and recycled as part of the circular economy.
It has taken Prof. Ahmed Allal, researcher at the Institute of Analytical Sciences and Physical Chemistry for the Environment and Materials (IPREM) at the University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour (UPPA) and the CNRS, five years of research to invent this new propylene made up of non-toxic natural additives.
This patented innovation supported by UPPA and by the society for the acceleration of technology transfer Aquitaine Science Transfert (of which ESTIA is a part) is likely to be made use of in the form of food packaging trays. These trays are reusable up to 100 times, and will be recovered and cleaned by a local insert structure to be then put back into the circuit of usage as an action of the circular economy.
An operating licence has recently been drawn up between the SATT Aquitaine Science Transfert and startup Noostrimof Pau to put this type of tray on the school catering and home meal delivery market. A city-wide trial is due to take place this year.
