Bask’Invest back at Izarbel
After two years as a virtual event, 31 March this year saw 160 participants at ESTIA for meetings between investors and start-ups. Three young and innovative companies were selected for awards at Bask’Invest 2022 organised on the Izarbel technology park at Bidart.
“200 individual interviews of 10 minutes each between start-ups and regional financiers were organised in the afternoon,” reports Hélène Marty, Head of ESTIA Entreprendre, one of the organisers of this 8th year of Bask’Invest. The idea of the event is to rapidly present the project and arouse interest so that another more in-depth meeting can then be arranged. Some fifty start-ups presented their ideas and work to 26 regional investors at Bask’Invest 2022.
ESTIA Entreprendre organised these meetings together with the Communauté d’Agglomération Pays Basque, the EY (Ernst &Young) network and the CCI Bayonne Pays Basque, in the new building at the ESTIA School of Engineering. Not all these start-ups are at the same level of development. Some young companies are already operational, other projects are at a very early stage. One such is Anna-Malika Camblats, established at the Izarbel incubator in Bidart for a few weeks now and right at the beginning of her business career. “I have received valuable advice and generous encouragement,” she says.

A round table on strategy, finance and developing a start-up provided the young entrepreneurs with some valuable feedback. They also found informal meetings and discussions between players in the technology park ecosystem very informative and helpful. “It was great to meet up in person or even to at last meet ‘in real life’ people who had only been seen on screens during the last two years,” adds Fabien, a business supporter.
And finally, Bask’Invest also featured a Pitch competition, highlighting eight start-ups. This year the votes of the judging panel and the public went to the Mayam app which ensures the traceability of and information on the loose products sold by Vracoop; this received the Communauté Pays Basque award. AerialMetric received the Airbus Développement award for its drone delivery service for health products. The PureNat start-up was awarded the French Tech Pays Basque award for its air purification technology.
« 200 entretiens individuels de 10 minutes chacun entre startups et financeurs régionaux ont été organisés dans l’après midi » rapporte Hélène Marty, responsable d’ESTIA Entreprendre, l’une des structures organisatrices de cette 8ème édition de Bask’Invest. C’est le principe de l’événement : exposer rapidement son projet et susciter l’intérêt pour ensuite décrocher un nouveau rendez-vous cette fois plus engageant. Une cinquantaine de startups ont ainsi présenté leurs idées et leurs travaux à 26 investisseurs régionaux lors de ce Bask’Invest 2022.
Associée à la Communauté d’Agglomération Pays Basque, au cabinet EY (Ernst &Young) et à la CCI Bayonne Pays Basque, ESTIA Entreprendre a organisé ces rencontres dans le nouveau bâtiment de l’école d’ingénieurs ESTIA. Toutes les startups n’ont pas le même niveau de développement. Certaines jeunes sociétés sont déjà opérationnelles, d’autres projets en sont à leur tout début. C’est le cas d’Anna-Malika Camblats, installée dans l’incubateur d’Izarbel à Bidart depuis quelques semaines et en initiation à l’entreprenariat. « J’ai reçu des précieux conseils et des encouragements bienveillants» témoigne-t-elle.
L’un des rendez-vous de l’écosystème innovant du Sud aquitain
Grâce à une table ronde sur la stratégie, le financement et le développement d’une startup les jeunes entrepreneuses et entrepreneurs ont bénéficié de retours d’expérience instructifs. Les rencontres et échanges informels entre les acteurs de l’écosystème technopolitain sont également enrichissants pour eux. « La joie de se retrouver en présentiel ou même de rencontrer enfin "en vrai" des personnes côtoyées uniquement par écrans interposés ces deux dernières années » résume Fabien Vancoille accompagnateur d’entreprise.
Enfin Bask’Invest c’est aussi un concours de Pitchs réunissant huit startups. Cette année les votes du jury et public ont distingué l’application Mayam de traçabilité et d’information des produits vrac de la société Vracoop qui a reçu le prix de la Communauté Pays Basque. AerialMetric a reçu le prix Airbus Développement pour son service de livraison de produits de santé par drone. La startup PureNat a été honorée du prix French Tech Pays Basque pour sa technologie de purification d’air.
