Expateo expands its offering

Start-up company Expateo aims to simplify the administrative processes involved in relocating abroad. Set up by Claire Pinatel at the Izarbel Technology Park, it is aimed mainly at SMEs and intermediate-sized companies, and is currently working on a solution for large groups.

“Expateo is a digital international mobility support application for company employees who want to live abroad,” explains Claire Pinatel, who set up shop at the ESTIA Entreprendre nursery in September 2016 in order to develop her idea.The company has just come out of a funding round with €350,000 in investment backing from the Aquiti fund, Bpifrance and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, supplemented by bank loans and shareholder funding. The Basque Country Urban Community also provided support to Expateo in 2017, in the form of an ‘incubation grant’.

Claire continues: “We developed a digital turnkey solution to manage the myriad HR elements and approaches involved in international employee mobility. Our digital international mobility assistant accompanies each employee throughout the mobility process and simplifies all the various individial expatriation processes. Within the framework established by the company, it gives employees more responsibility and flexibility in managing their relocation project: a checklist of steps to complete, suggestions for service-providers (removals services, relocation agencies, etc.). Each digital assistant is connected to the Expateo HR platform and allows for real-time information exchange, which makes it easier to follow employees’ progress and obtain useful analyses of the data transmitted.”

Since it was established, Expateo has assisted in more than 2000 overseas relocation projects. While it was initially designed to help individuals, the focus is now exclusively on companies. “Having provided a service for SMEs and intermediate-sized companies, we’re now working on an offering for larger groups,” explains Claire Pinatel. “This funding round will allow us to continue to invest in developing increasingly powerful digital solutions.”
