KOMPAÏ chosen by the Safran group
KOMPAÏ Robotics, a company based at Izarbel, will be supporting the French industrial and technology group in a programme to integrate land robots in the French armed forces.
The Safran group has won the contract for the Furious project (Futurs Systèmes Robotiques Innovants en tant Qu’outils Au Profit du Combattant Embarqué et Débarqué, or future innovative robot systems to assist combat soldiers in vehicles and on foot) after a call for tenders put out by the Directorate-General for Armaments (DGA).
This project is intended to equip the French army with robot vehicles to assist ground combat units. To develop this programme, the Safran group chose to involve the academic world via the best robotics laboratories in France and to take advantage of the agility of five SMEs including KOMPAÏ Robotics.
As communication on military programmes is restricted, Vincent Dupourqué, head of this start-up created in July 2016 on the Izarbel Technology Park, can only say how pleased he is to have been selected "for an important programme in synergy with KOMPAÏ Robotics' projects in the healthcare field, which will contribute significantly to the company's development."
KOMPAÏ Robotics is working on the KOMPAÏ physical and cognitive assistance robot project initiated by Vincent Dupourqué several years ago. A third version of this personal assistant robot is currently being developed at the Izarbel site with new functionalities and a more refined commercial strategy.
