Basque Country technology cluster companies take part in the 24h de l’Innovation event
Organised at the Halle d’Iraty in Biarritz and open to the public for the first time, the 24h de l’Innovation event attracted almost 2,000 visitors. Several firms based on the different Basque Country technology cluster sites put forward subjects for the event.
For its eleventh edition, the event organised by the ESTIA brought together 42 teams made up of seven to ten people at the Halle d’Iraty Conference Centre in Biarritz, whereas previous editions had been held at the engineering school on the Izarbel Technology Park. Twelve teams also simultaneously took part in the event in La Réunion, Peru, the UK and Poland.
"We welcomed almost 2,000 spectators," reports Jérémy Legardeur, the ESTIA lecturer in charge of organising this challenge, which involved teams made up mainly of students responding to subjects submitted by companies, laboratories, associations or freelancers.
Several companies based on the Izarbel and Technocité Technology Parks put forward subjects, examples of which included: "Imagine the city of the future where travellers use connected objects and mobile devices to take part in an outstanding experience" for SIG-Image; "How can Wave Bumpers (moveable anti-submersion dykes) be attached to each other?" for Wave Bumper; "How could the existing tree in a saddle be replaced without changing its basic properties but giving it a competitive advantage over the existing form?" for the Voltaire group.
In the end, it was the Easy Cook team that triumphed in this 11th edition of the 24h de l’Innovation with its system enabling people with the use of only one arm to cook in a functional, convivial way. It should be noted that to devise their projects, the teams had access to 3D printers on site, and in particular to an additive manufacturing machine tool developed by Lynxter, a company based on the Technocité Technology Park.
