Maritime Systems to return soon to Izarbel
Founded at the Technology Park 20 years ago, Maritime Systems is now based in Bayonne where it develops software, databases and extranets for the insurance sector. Maritime Systems is expected to move into the Izartegi building, which is currently under construction at the Izarbel site.
“I founded the company in January 1998 at the Izarbel business incubator where I stayed for three years. I then rented office space in several buildings on the Izarbel site until 2007. We then moved to Bayonne, next to Technocité. In spring 2019, the Maritime Systems team will move to the Izartegi building, for which construction started this autumn,” explains Olivier Champagne, manager of the digital services company which employs five people.
For the construction of the Izartegi building, the Communauté Pays Basque has devised an innovative partnership to support companies in the digital sector that wish to own their offices. After identifying their needs, Novaldi and Maritime Systems have expressed their interest in participating in a group dedicated to the construction project. After a call for projects initiated by the Communauté Pays Basque, it was Essor Développement that was selected to build the 700m2 building. Novaldi and Maritime Systems will move in there in 2019 and will be joined by other businesses, including the entrepreneurial collective Le Labo.
“Our return to Izarbel will allow us to be as close as possible to the technology park ecosystem and to attract expertise," explains Olivier Champagne. Maritime Systems develops specialised software for insurance companies, in particular those in the Maritime & Transport sector. The company’s services are aimed at brokers, agents and marine & transport insurance companies, as well as reinsurers. “At Izarbel, the company will benefit from a technological environment that will strengthen its expertise and enable it to grow as a software developing business, and also enhance its services and support,” explains Olivier Champagne.
