Plans for Cooperation with Reunion island
Economic players from Reunion island visited the Izarbel Technology Park on 3 November. Business meetings were held to discuss joint projects.
A delegation composed of councillors from the North Reunion Local Authority (CINOR), an administrative area in the north of Reunion, and business leaders from the island, including representatives of the Reunion digital sector, met at the Izarbel Technology Park on 3 November. The purpose of the visit was to establish strategic collaborations between economic players in the Basque region and from Reunion, in particular for a technology-focused partnership project on the themes of marine renewable energy, threats to the coastline, and biotechnologies.
'Our regions share similarities. Citizens of Reunion have high expectations regarding bathing water and digital skills. We could collaborate on these topics', says Pantxika Fagoaga Otheguy, manager at Rivages Pro Tech, the Suez Eau centre for technical and scientific expertise located at Izarbel.
A trip to Reunion at the end of November
With 538 companies and almost 5,000 employees, the Reunion digital sector was represented by the managers of the Digital Reunion cluster. At Izarbel, talks with the Pays Basques Digital Cluster have paved the way for potential future collaboration. 'We will inform members of the cluster interested in developing on the African market so that they can get in touch with Digital Reunion which, thanks to its geographical proximity with Africa, knows the market well. Five to ten companies in the cluster are involved', reports Jean-Louis Mélin, president of the Pays Basque Digital Cluster.
The International Forum for Digital Transformation (NxSE) organised by Digital Reunion with the support of CINOR is coming up on 24 and 25 November.
