Setavoo expands its PopVox application
The interactive tools developed by Setavoo at the Izarbel Technology Park enhance communication between citizens and public bodies. The company founded by Philippe Massé is accelerating the roll-out of its applications across France and is offering new functions.
‘Our main application, PopVox, is a white label with themed versions. PopVox is a participative democratic tool which provides information on local life and enables simplified communication with municipal services and local elected representatives. Its first version, InfoPlages, provides information in real time on the quality of bathing waters, for example, and allows the public to pass on their observations. The common point of these tools is that they enable citizens to become active players in their local life’, says Philippe Massé, co-founder in 2014 of the Setavoo start-up at the Izarbel park.
Initially prototyped in Guéthary and Anglet, the PopVox application has been adopted by other towns such as Biarritz and more recently Bastia in Corsica and Ensisheim in the Haut-Rhin department. PopVox enables citizens to notify a problem, express an opinion or an idea, send a query, participate in consultations on local life and encourage an initiative. ‘We constantly integrate feedback from the towns we work with and we are preparing a new version of PopVox for mid-2019 with a revised design and additional functions, such as the creation of theme communities or a participative budget module’, Philippe Massé tells us.
Nature reserves
The company Setavoo is expanding its expertise via new applications. InfoPlages is now supplemented by InfoParcs, which is geared towards national, regional and major nature reserves. ‘We have developed an application for French National Parks with the support of the Ministry for Ecological and Inclusive Transition. In association with several French national parks, we have designed an applicative base for protected sites where visitors can become players in regional conservation, share their observations, obtain information on flora and fauna and also contribute to heritage restoration or biodiversity projects.
The Calanques National Nature Park has signed up with Setavoo for a first version of the application for its site in 2019, while the Périgord-Limousin Regional Nature Park has just confirmed its interest, with the support of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Authority. Setavoo sees promising prospects for this application in France and Europe, which will eventually result in new jobs for the Basque Country.
