Sophia Genetics comes to Izarbel
Sophia Genetics, a world leading company in evidence-based medicine, has opened its new premises at the heart of Izarbel Science and Technology Park in Bidart.
This company has a worldwide reputation in the medical field. With a workforce of 450, Sophia Genetics collects genomic information from a global network of 750 health institutions, to search for the origin of cancers and rare diseases.
This company has been at the Izarbel Science and Technology Park in Bidart since 2018, when it had 60 employees, and it is a world leader in evidence-based medicine. It has now decided to consolidate its base in the Basque country.
In July it opened its new offices at Izarbel. Jurgi Camblong, its President and a local man, hopes to see around a hundred new colleagues join the company.
The company will form one of the cornerstones of the building devoted to medical technologies set up by the Communauté Pays Basque, jointly financed with the Department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques. In the future it will be joined by a business incubator specialising in new medical technologies, as well as other companies.
This development demonstrates the interest of the Communauté Pays Basque in the field of health.
C’est une société mondialement connue dans le domaine médical : Sophia Genetics. Forte de 450 salariés, la société recueille des informations génomiques auprès d’un réseau mondial de 750 établissements de santé, afin de déceler l’origine des cancers et des maladies rares.
Installée sur le site technopolitain Izarbel de Bidart depuis 2018, où elle comptait 60 salariés, cette société leader mondial de la médecine basée sur les données a décidé de conforter son assise en terre basque.
En juillet, elle a inauguré ses nouveaux bureaux à Izarbel avec l’ambition pour Jurgi Camblong, son président et enfant du pays, d’y accueillir près d’une centaine de collaborateurs.
L’entreprise sera l’une des pièces maîtresse du bâtiment construit autour des technologies médicales par la Communauté Pays Basque, co-financé avec le Département des Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Elle sera rejointe dans l’avenir par une pépinière spécialisée dans les nouvelles technologies médicales, entre autres.
Cet aménagement témoigne de l’intérêt porté par la Communauté Pays Basque au domaine de la santé.
