An application for smart golfers in preparation at Izarbel
Albatros is a community platform project whose aim is to connect all stakeholders in the golf world.
In golf, an “albatross” is a hole played in three shots under par. It’s also the name of the project being developed at the ESTIA Entreprendre incubator by the brothers Lahut and their friend Jérôme Armentia since June. All three are golfers and holders of Master’s degrees, Adrien Lahut and Jérôme Armentia in European business law, and Victor Lahut in international trade, and wish to “create a community platform for smart golfers”.
They have been based since June at the ESTIA Entreprendre business incubator, and are working on the first version of their application with the aim of making it into a community platform and marketplace, bringing together stakeholders from the golf world: sellers of golf equipment, instructors, course managers and clubs, etc. “With 800,000 golfers in France and almost 100 million in the world, golf is a large sector and we think it will become further digitised”, explained Victor Lahut. The launch of the website and the Albatros application are planned for summer 2018 as is the creation of the company.
“The application and the website will have four main objectives: to offer a social network centralising the golf offer, to simplify access to the golf offer in particular via a geolocation system, to unite the market in the medium term and create a management tool for professionals” added Victor Lahut. The idea is to begin with the Basque Country and south-west France, and then move onto the Paris region and France as a whole, before expanding internationally with this bilingual French/English platform. With its establishment at the ESTIA Entreprendre incubator, the Albatros team hopes to benefit from the ecosystem of the Izarbel Technology Park, and in particular from assistance with the technical development of the project.
