Version 2 for the Badjoto application
The recent winner of a national competition for connected objects, the start-up Badjoto, created by Stéphane Perret, is offering a new version of its carpool support solution, developed (and tested) at the Izarbel park in Bidart.
Badjoto is a carpool solution which counts, via a short-range locator beacon, the journey routes and times of a vehicle. The beacon communicates exclusively with the driver’s smartphone, who transmits the information to the Badjoto central server. The system then suggests a carpool service to other subscribers of this patented solution.
The Badjoto application thus enables drivers to pick up passengers on their usual routes and times. With a dual aim of reducing daily travel costs and promoting sustainable development, Badjoto calculates the cost of each journey based on the number of kilometres and secures the financial compensation for the vehicle owner at a single and fair price.
The company, founded by Stéphane Perret in 2016 at the ESTIA Entreprendre incubator in Izarbel, has just launched a second version of its application. Released in early August, it benefits in particular from ‘work on the user interface and more robust software’, says Stéphane Perret. Meanwhile, in June, the company won the national competition ‘La Poste French IOT’, which awards innovative start-ups in the connected objects sector (1).
From January to July, Badjoto ran tests at the Izarbel park with 250 users. The application is now operational and Stéphane Perret is ‘aiming to set up regional platforms pooled by companies, regional authorities and organisations with a view to federating business parks’.
Other news: for the Mobility Challenge event organised from 16 to 22 September, an operation will be led with ADEME to offer companies in Nouvelle-Aquitaine a three-month trial of the Badjoto solution.
(1).Some forty French companies were awarded, including two in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
