Act in Space 2018 at Technocité on 25 and 26 May
The Technocité Technology Park is the location for this event, which takes place simultaneously at several French sites and all around the world. Teams will have 24 hours to meet challenges set by CNES, ESA and their partners.
The third Act in Space event, organised by the French National Centre for Space Studies, the European Space Agency (ESA) and the France South ESA Business Incubation Centre (ESA BIC), takes place on 25 and 26 May 2018 simultaneously at 80 sites in France and abroad. Act in Space at Technocité will be hosted by ESTIA, the Izarbel engineering school, in partnership with the Basque Country Technology Park. The latter will provide coaches and awards juries, as well as a prize on the subject of ‘the ocean’.
Over the course of 24 hours, teams involving entrepreneurs, students and experts will tackle various subjects, coming up with new products and solutions by applying technologies and patents from the space sector to other areas of everyday life. The programme includes: new applications, geo-localisation, renewable energies, 3D printing, image processing and drones. The participants will be assisted by experts from the space sector and the world of enterprise.
Act in Space, which was launched in 2014 and takes place every two years, will be truly international this year, welcoming more than 2000 participants from 40 different countries. Various local and national prizes will be awarded, including the first national prize of a trip to Guyana to attend the launch of an Ariane rocket from the base in Kourou, and the ‘world’ prize of a zero-gravity flight. The winners from each country will attend the international final, which will be held on 27 June 2018 in Toulouse, as part of the 2018 Toulouse Space Show.
