Creative collaboration at Technocité
The Outercraft design agency, which specialises in innovation, has called on the services of Lynxter to make a 3D print of a horse leg with bio-sourced materials. Both companies are based at the Technocité technology park.
"We're working on creating a protective sleeve for horses for an equipment supplier in this industry. Since it's complicated to work directly with horses, we decided to make a full-size reproduction of a horse leg. We made a 3D scan of a real horse leg by scanning it from all sides in order to digitise the leg and then we sent this information to Lynxter," explains Florian Auger, founder of the Outercraft agency, which has been located at the Technology Park site since March.
Lynxter, which is also based at Technocité, has developed an additive manufacturing material deposition machine tool, called S600D. "Our machine makes it possible to make large-volume prints. For the project the Outercraft agency was developing, we chose PLA, a bio-sourced material as a base, to make the print using a high-speed thermoplastic configuration. It took a whole day of work to print the leg," says Thomas Batigne, one of the three founders of Lynxter. The two companies plan to collaborate on future projects.
