The EN 9100 standard awarded to Elkar Engineering

A company specializing in mechanical engineering, manufacturing and industrial metrology has just been awarded the EN 9100 certification, a European standard specific to the aeronautics, space and defence (ASD) industry.

Elkar Ingénierie was created and based in Mauléon and opened an 800 m2 manufacturing workshop in the town at the beginning of 2017. The company has design offices in Ordizia in the Spanish Basque Country and on the Technocité Technology Park in Bayonne. Developing services for the design, manufacture and control of tools and special machines, Elkar employs around thirty engineers and technicians.

The company gained its ISO 9001 certification in June 2008, when the management team decided to develop the company's quality management system in order to be as close as possible to the industrial culture of its customers and partners. This reorganisation led to it being awarded the EN 9100 European standard, which is specific to the aeronautics, space and defence (ASD) industry, this summer.

Elkar Ingénierie's next aim is to obtain NADCAP accreditation (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) for its industrial metrology service (part measurement). This service is located both in Mauléon and at the Technocité site in Bayonne and employs seven people. The company’s part measurement business is mainly developed for manufacturers and subcontractors in the aeronautics and space sector of the Adour Basin.
