Dedicated to supporting managers who have experienced the failure of a business, this national association has chosen the Technocité site to launch its Basque Country branch.

Now recognised as a public non-profit organisation, the “60,000 rebounds” association was founded in 2012 by Philippe Rambaud, an entrepreneur who has himself experienced bankruptcy. Named after the 60,000 companies who file for bankruptcy each year, the association offers support to managers in post-bankruptcy situations over a two-year period.

Already established in 8 regions in France, “60,000 rebounds” relies on a network of volunteers and a dozen permanent staff. In Nouvelle-Aquitaine (where on average 9,000 businesses a year suffer bankruptcy), the association has branches in Bordeaux, Pau, La Rochelle, Dax, Mont-de-Marsan and now Bayonne.

Around one hundred people came together on 8 November at the Technocité business incubator site for the Basque Country branch launch. Participants attended a presentation and heard feedback from business owners who have been supported by the association.

24-month support

“In 95% of cases, bankruptcy hits small businesses. Our aim is to help managers to bounce back quickly and efficiently. Since the founding of the association, we have helped around 1,200 managers, and half of these entrepreneurs have then gone on to create a new company,” explains Philippe Rambaud, at the time of the Basque Country branch launch.

After an interview, presentation and a preliminary selection, the association offers free, voluntary support that can take place over a period of up to 24 months. This support is provided through seven sessions with a certified professional and volunteer coach, and with the sponsorship of a company manager, participation in discussion and development groups, or conference workshops given by business experts.

Financed by grants and contributions from companies, “60,000 rebounds” works in partnership with stakeholders such as the Entrepreneurs Network, consular chambers and professional unions. The association’s Basque Country branch, which will be able to rely on other nearby branches, should be operational in the coming weeks.
