Since early January, Tekniaero has been building a parts manufacturing centre for the aeronautics industry, which is due to open in the Spring.

Stéphane Azcué, the boss of Tekniaero, opted for premises covering 800m2 in the Technocité Technology Park in which to establish his recently-created business. A former executive at Charriton (aeronautical parts and structures manufacturer), the mechanical engineer plans to develop a “flexible and responsive company boasting a fleet of the latest-generation machines and an experienced team”. Ten or so jobs should be created this year and the aim is to stabilise the workforce at around 30 people within three months.

Heavy investments have been made with latest-version machines. Tekniaero plans to specialise in working with aluminium sheets, as well as stainless steel and titanium. The aim is to carry out sheet metalwork operations – welding, assembly and painting – in order to manufacture fundamental and subassembly parts for major clients in the aeronautics industry and their partners.

Stéphane Azcué has already earned the trust of regional clients and is currently gathering essential certifications and qualifications for the requirements of the aeronautics industry. Supported by the Pays Basque Urban Community, Tekniaero is adding to the ecosystem specialising in aeronautics engineering and advanced materials in the Technocité Technology Park in Bayonne.
